"The church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints" - Join us for our Next Mid-Week Bible study, Wed. May 21, 2025 / 7:00 pm - Hebrews chapter. 4 -

Pauline Phillips

GOD HAS PREPARED A GIFT FOR YOU

YOU CAN KNOW WITH CONFIDENCE THAT YOU WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.

1 John 5:13

"I write these things onto you who believe in the Name of the  Son of God  so that you may know that you have eternal life”

John 5:24

" Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment.

Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life".

John 10:27

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish;

no one will snatch them out of my hand.

My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” (Psalm 23:1-2)

God’s design for humanity was never to exist and suffer under the curse of sin, separated from Him.  We are made in His image, and He desires a relationship with us, His children.  His plan was always to rescue and redeem us through His Son, who was there with Him at the beginning, and willingly came to us as the perfect man to give His life for the full payment for our sins.  Christ came to earth to seek and to save the lost.  He conquered death by carrying out the will of His Father to arise from the grave for our justification.  Jesus is the Good Shepherd.  We come to the Father through Christ, by the sound of His Voice.

What Did Jesus Mean in John 10:27 by 'My Sheep Know My Voice'?

“Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem.  It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade.” (John 10:22-23)

Jesus taught about his status as the Good Shepherd during the Festival of Dedication, known today as Hanukkah, typically celebrated in November and December (NIV Study Bible).  The festival was a commemoration of Jewish deliverance.  Many surrounded Jesus at this time looking for Him to definitively claim his Messiahship, ready to claim blasphemy.

Jesus turned their attention to his sheep, and the Good Shepherd who protects them.  Matthew Henry explained in his commentary of the Bible, “He described the gracious disposition and happy state of his sheep; they heard and believed his word, followed him as his faithful disciples, and none of them should perish; for the Son and the Father were one.”  Jesus came to earth, fully man, to achieve the will of the Father in heaven.

All things and everyone lie under the sovereign reign of God.

Why is Salvation Necessary?

The short answer is this: sin separates us from God.  To bridge this Gap, we all need a Savior.  Jesus died on the cross to bear the penalty for our sins (past, present and future).

Trust the Scriptures - Gods Holy Word - by receiving His Son as your personal Lord and Savior, and He will save you from the penalty of sin.  You will be reconciled to God the Father, adopted as one of His children, your record expunged (washed by the blood of the Lamb of God - Jesus), justified and sanctified by His Holy Spirit (born from above) and begin the journey of life (more abundantly) by knowing God and following Jesus.

Experience the Love of Christ at Grand Bend Gospel Hall Church

At Grand Bend Gospel Hall Church, we believe that the love of Christ is the foundation of our community.  We strive to embody that love in all that we do, whether it is through our worship services, our outreach programs, or our interactions with one another.

We welcome everyone, regardless of background or beliefs, and invite you to experience the transformative power of Christ's love at Grand Bend Gospel Hall Church.

The local church is one tiny element of the entire Universal Church.  It is not a complete Body of itself, but one small part of the whole.  The work of the local assembly is largely limited to the location in which it gathers.  A church has the task of nurturing and edifying its members within, therefore we are told in the letter to the Hebrews that we must not “forsake the assembling of ourselves together”. By forsaking the assembling of ourselves together we:

1) miss out on the grace that the Lord wants to minister to us through the Body, and

2) we are not available to contribute our part to this process whereby we are intended to be the means by which God blesses others.  Incidentally, this latter participation is also a means of spiritual growth in ourselves.  We will be considering this in more depth under the section on ‘How should a church meet?’ Here we will see more clearly what ‘an assembling together’ means.

So the local fellowship has a commitment to its own members within, “to build one another up in our most holy faith”, to nurture with milk the newly converted and to feed with meat the maturing members.  The following scriptures are a few that can be cited from the New Testament which give clear direction to the individual Christian and to the local church regarding the means by which God’s grace and blessing is ministered to us and through us:

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread and in prayers” (Acts. 2:42).

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Col. 3:16).

“but exhort one another daily, while it is called today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin” (Heb. 3:13).

Paul writes to Timothy telling him “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee...” (1 Tim. 4:13).

We hope you can come visit us and enjoy our company and continue to learn from God's Word.  This is the best way we can HELP ONEANOTHER improve our spiritual condition and also learn to LIVE our lives in a more meaningful and happy way overall.

ALL ARE WELCOME

Let us not limit these practices only to the times when the church gathers together but these gifts from God should be used wherever and whenever Christians meet one another in our daily lives.
