“Transformation often begins when we recognize our own limitations.”

Today’s daily devotional is based on the Bible account of the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar and his transformation from pride to humility.  After having a dream interpreted by Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar's arrogance led to a divine punishment that drove him to live like a beast in the wilderness for seven years.

" And at the end of the days (seven years) I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation. "

Daniel 4:34

{ 'Jesus is my Savior ONLY when I make Him LORD of my daily life' }

'True Faith and Conversion are always evidenced by a changed Behavior of obedient faith and Good Works.' (Editor)

"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him."  Hebrews 10:38

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (NKJB)  Hebrews 11:1

"But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Yeshua [Jesus], His [God's] Son, purifies us from all sin."  (BFI)  1 John 1:7)

"But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but (born) of God." (NKJB)   John 1:12-13

"If you love me, keep my commandments." (KJV)  John 14:15

 Scripture

" And at the end of the days (seven years) I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation. "

Daniel 4:34

- MEDITATION -

Have you ever experienced a situation that humbled you?

King Nebuchadnezzar's account is a powerful example of how God uses circumstances to transform our hearts and minds.

Nebuchadnezzar, the mighty and proud king of the Empire of Babylon, was warned through a dream interpreted by Daniel that his arrogance would lead to his downfall.  Despite the warning, he continued to revel in his achievements, attributing his success to his own self-sufficiency and power.  A year later, God's prophecy came to pass.  Nebuchadnezzar was struck with madness and lived like a beast in the wilderness for seven years.  During this period, he experienced a profound transformation.

How often do we attribute our successes solely to our efforts, forgetting God's hand in our lives?  What does this story teach us about the dangers of pride?

This period of madness was not just a punishment but an opportunity for Nebuchadnezzar to gain a new perspective.  Stripped of his royal dignity, he learned humility and the true source of his power.  At the end of the seven years, his sanity was restored, and he acknowledged God's sovereignty with a humble heart.  He declared, "His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation."

This story challenges us to reflect on our own lives.

Are we relying on our strength, or do we recognize God's sovereignty in all things?  How can we cultivate humility in our daily walk with God?

Nebuchadnezzar's transformation teaches us the importance of humility and the recognition of God's authority over our lives.  It reminds us that true greatness comes from acknowledging our dependence on God.  As we go about our daily lives, let us strive to maintain a humble heart and seek God's guidance in all we do.

What steps can you take today to acknowledge God's role in your life?  How can you demonstrate humility in your actions and decisions?

What does saying “yes” to Jesus look like in your life today?

" Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.   In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God (God-breathe) and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,  that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

  2 Timothy 3:16-17

" And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. "  Romans 8:28

"God is a Spirit and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."  John 4:24

"For godly sorrow worketh repentance unto salvation, a repentance which bringeth no regret: but the sorrow of the world worketh death."

 2 Corinthians 7:10

"Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."   1 Thessalonians 5:23

"... Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts."    Zechariah 4:6

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31  (KJV)

"Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,"  2 Corinthians 5:18

"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth." Colossians 3:2

"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.  Because of these, the wrath of God is coming."  Colossians 3:5-6

REFLECTION

Consider how you respond to success and challenges.  Do you see God's presence and purpose in both?

Commit to regularly thanking God for His blessings and seeking His wisdom in times of difficulty.  By doing so, you honor God and develop a deeper understanding of His role in your life.

This week, practice humility by serving others and recognizing the contributions of those around you, giving credit where it is due.

" When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom."   Proverbs 11:2

" Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. " Proverbs 16:18

" No temptation (trial, disability or testing) has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted (tested) beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. " (ESV)

 1 Corinthians 10:13

" But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. "  (KJV)  1 Corinthians 2:9

---------------------------

As believers we must faithfully keep in prayer daily to maintain communion with our Heavenly Father, through Christ Jesus (the Son of His love).

"The bottom line is we need theology and experience—experience that is theological and theology that is experiential."  Tim Keller.

... Addressing students at the Oxford Town Hall in England, Keller reflected on the model of prayer that Jesus provides in Gethsemane.  We encounter a Savior who is brutally honest about His desire (“Let this cup pass from me”) and yet absolutely submissive to God’s plan (“nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will”; Matt. 26:39).  Jesus neither represses His feelings nor is He ruled by them.  What an example for us!  “The basic purpose of prayer,” Keller observes, “is not to bend God’s will to mine but to mold my will into his.”13

This is why sound biblical interpretation and meditation are indispensable foundations for prayer.  Keller commends two questions each time we open our Bibles:

-First, What did the original author intend to convey to his readers?

-Second, What role does the passage play in the whole Bible—that is, How does it contribute to the gospel message and move along the main narrative arc of Scripture, which culminates in Jesus Christ?

Keller warns us against meditation devoid of such questions, which may unintentionally amount to “listening to your own heart or to the spirit of your own culture”14, rather than to God’s authoritative voice (Scripture).

Again, this is why theology must inform and fuel experience.  Just as you can’t grow relationally with a person unless you learn who he or she is, so you can’t deepen intimacy with God apart from studying and treasuring His Word.  Prayer, then, is equal parts response and gift—a response to revelation from God’s word and a gift for those secure in his grace.  And this approach to prayer, nourished by biblical meditation, is the pathway to enjoying God.

"Pray without ceasing." 1 Thessalonians 5:17

"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."  James 5:16

" And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, "
Daniel 4:34

PRAYER

Our Father Jehovah in heaven, our great God and LORD,

Oh Lord, my God, there is no other name above the Name of Jesus.

His name carries such weight that no other name can compare to it.  Jesus Christ is Lord of all.

Father, as You elevate my life, increase also the humility in which I live by.  Help me to continually understand that everything I have is a result of Your goodness and not of me being in control.  Continue to put checkpoints in my life that will alert me when my heart is becoming prideful and conceited. Protect me from the madness that can occur when I think that the splendor and open doors around me came from my strength and by my wisdom alone.

May my life serve as a billboard that publicly displays and proclaims Your goodness and wisdom to everyone who sees me.  I acknowledge today that it is You and You alone that brings fulfillment and success into my life.  When I lose focus I will thank You in advance for realigning me  like Nebuchadezzar in Daniel 4, so that I can see You with a clear and sober mind!

Today I thank You that the beast of pride and arrogance has been overcome by the precious power of Your Holy Spirit.

Preserve me from self-sufficiency and pride, increase my faith and use me in Your service, I pray Father,

I ask this with a grateful heart and thankfulness, In Jesus’ precious and holy Name,

Amen.

REMEMBER

Salvation: Did I just profess to be saved...or do I possess Salvation!

As true believers (Christians), on that day we were 'born again'  1 Peter 1:23  we received that same Holy Spirit, Jesus received from above at His baptism  Matthew 3:16, which enables us to hear God's Word to live in harmony with our Heavenly Father, and do the works God has appointed for us to do  Ephesians 2:10  in the Name of His Son, our Lord, Master and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The perfect unity of the Son with His Father is God's plan from creation for us as believers, to live humbly, truthfully, victoriously, in harmony and love with our Heavenly Father and with all mankind, as much as it is humanly possible. Romans 12:18

- "All who have trusted Christ and followed him in baptism are really, if mysteriously, united to him." -  'In Christ' (Philippians 1:1) means that we are united with him in both his death and his resurrected life.  Consequently, we share the status that Christ Himself has.  Because He was obedient to the point of death and subsequently exalted, we too share in His humiliation and exaltation; and we are set apart to God as His servants, just as Christ Himself is.

Ephesians 2:10

"For we are His (God's) workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

Ephesians 3:11

"according to the eternal purpose which He (God) purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:"

The Apostle Paul reminds the church that they are saints, separated to God, because of their union with Christ.

Ephesians 6:24

Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

"For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."  Jeremiah 29:11
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you." Matthew 6:33

OBSERVATION

The Christian life is not about: self-sufficiency, human ambitions or temporal self-gratification and worldly victories, but about surrender and humble obedience, about faithfully living out God's purpose for us, about experiencing life more abundantly John 10:10  by following Jesus, as recorded for us, and revealed in the Scriptural Principles of God’s Word.

Godliness is about letting Jesus transform our minds, hearts and lives daily, not in rituals or in man's religious traditions, but for truth in Godly harmony and unity in our relationships. Hebrews 12:11

Godliness begins on a personal level.  It’s shaped by our daily choices to obey and follow God in the trials and daily challenges, even in the quiet, everyday moments of our private thought life.  When we choose holiness over self-gratification, and live with integrity and truth, we build the character God uses to transform us ("sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:" Jude 1:1 ) to bring renewal, justice, harmony, and victory.

We must see that each thought and word, and each action we take, is part of our lifelong journey.  By letting God's Holy Spirit shape our character, we learn to love others (like Jesus did), and we can spark change in our families, communities, and culture.

Let’s step forward in faith becoming vessels of God’s grace and mercy.

Through us, in loyal Godly friendships, revival and unity can begin—first personally, then all around us—in fulfilling God's purposes (Luke 2:14).

REMINDER

Just before returning to heaven, Jesus commanded His disciples to be His witnesses and share the Good News with everyone everywhere by God's Spirit.

 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

ALWAYS REMEMBER...You became a 'Christian' [a true believer] the day you were 'born from above'.  As the Lord Jesus declared, His Words recorded for us in the Gospel of John:

Yeshua [Jesus] answered, “Yes, indeed, I tell you that unless a person is born from water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."  (CJB)

 John 3:5

"What is born from the flesh is flesh, and what is born from the Spirit is spirit"

 1 Peter 1:23

*********

"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses." 1 Timothy 6:12

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.  For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.  In love He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will — to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves.  In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace (undeserved kindness), that He lavished on us.   Ephesians 1:3-8a

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."   Hebrews 12:11

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."  Ephesians 2:10

"Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."  1 Thessalonians 5:23

"Turn to the Lord for help in everything you do, and you will be successful."

 Proverbs 16:3

"Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow."  James 1:17

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."  Matthew 6:33

"Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. "  James 4:7

"You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised."  Hebrews 10:36

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ..."

 Ephesians 6:10-18

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Matthew 28:19-20

“Keep on, then, seeking first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you."   Matthew 6:33

 Hebrews 1
God’s Supreme Revelation

"God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins ( once for all - Heb.7:27; 9:12; 10:10 ), sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, ... " (NKJV)

Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also you are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised Him from the dead."

Scriptures to empower us

"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Walk as children of light,"

Ephesians 5:8

"Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."

Philippians 1:6

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”  Romans 8:35

“Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39

"But he (Jesus) was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not his mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opens not His mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare His generation? for He was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was He stricken.

Isaiah 53:5-8

"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

And you are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power:

The Narrow Way

The church is a people, not a place or a statistic. It’s a body, united into Him "Christ" who is the head. "The church is not a gallery for the better exhibition of eminent Christians, but a school for the education of imperfect ones." Join us 7:00 pm Wed. Aug.20 Mid-Week Bible study - Hebr. 10
