“True legacies are built on righteousness, not popularity.”
Today’s daily devotional is based on the Bible account of the beheading of John the Baptist. Herod imprisoned John and, under manipulation from his wife, made a promise that led to John’s execution. This story teaches us about the consequences of prioritizing social standing over righteousness and how true legacies can endure.
" For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. "
Mark 6:20

'The story of Jesus is the story of a God who would rather die than to live without us.' ... If you've heard the Gospel, if you know about Jesus, you're accountable for that knowledge. You can't unhear it, you'll have to decide what you'll do with it, and here's what I want you to understand. God is not trying to keep people out of heaven, He's trying to get people into heaven. That's why He sent Jesus, that's why He sends people to tell others about Jesus. That's why I can tell you from personal experience there is a God who made you, a God who loves you, a God who wants a relationship with you and He's made the way for that to happen through His Son Jesus. - MEDITATION -
Have you ever faced a situation where doing the right thing came at a personal cost?
Herod faced such a dilemma with John the Baptist. Herod imprisoned John, not because of guilt, but due to anger and the influence of his wife. Though he feared John and knew he was a righteous man, Herod's wife manipulated him into promising to kill John.
When it was time to fulfill this promise, Herod chose to prioritize his social standing over righteousness. This decision not only led to John's tragic death but also reveals the dangers of valuing public opinion over moral integrity.
Are there moments when you struggle to make the right choice because of pressures of what others might think?
John the Baptist's story reminds us that standing firm in our convictions can sometimes lead to personal loss. Yet, it is through these sacrifices that our true character is revealed. Herod's choice to preserve appearances of his reputation over saving an innocent life underscores the importance of integrity over popularity.
What can we learn from John's unwavering commitment to his mission?
Despite his tragic end, John's legacy endured. Jesus' ministry continued to grow, and John’s work paved the way for a greater purpose. This teaches us that our actions, even if they seem futile or costly, can have a lasting impact beyond our understanding.
What does saying “yes” to Jesus look like in your life today?
When were your eyes opened to the truth of the gospel?
Whom do you know who needs to hear the message of salvation?
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom. 10:9).

"Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation," 2 Corinthians 5:18
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

RELECTION
Reflect on areas in your life where you may be compromising your integrity for the sake of social acceptance. Are you making decisions based on what others might think or what is truly right?
Take time to seek God's guidance and courage to stand firm in your convictions, even when it costs you personally. Remember, true legacy is built on the foundation of righteousness and truth, not on the fleeting approval of others. .
" Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. "
1 Peter 5:6-7
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

PRAYER
Our Father Jehovah in heaven, our great God and LORD,
I thank You that You care so much about me, You want to come into my life and radically change it. When I look at everything You’ve blessed me with in my life Lord, I stand in awe and reverence at all the times You’ve come through for me and for all the times You’ve lavished me with provision.
I thank You Father for Your love for me all the days of my life. I thank You for Your hand leading me. I thank You for Your Spirit guiding me, as I reach for higher and greater things in Your name, Lord Jesus.
Through the life of John the Baptist I see that the ultimate sign of a life well lived is to say that no matter where I end up I can with full confidence say that I lived and represented Christ in everything I did. In the face of persecution I will praise You, in the face of ridicule…I will praise You! Even when my head is on the chopping block and I could lose everything, I know that in Jesus Father You will restore what the enemy has stolen from me. My strength comes from the fact that Jesus conquered sin and death and because He did… conquering the trials and obstacles on the faith Journey to my destiny is a given. For greater is He who is in me than he that is in the world! Draw close to me, as I draw close to You Lord. You are my strength and my shield, my hope and my song, my light and my salvation.
I will praise You all the days of my life.
Preserve me Father from my fallen human nature, and the world, and from the enemy of my soul, and use me in Your service to the glory and praise of Thy Holy Name.
I ask this Father In the precious name of Your Only Son, the Son of Your love, my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, amen.

REMEMBER
Salvation: Did I just profess to be saved...or do I possess Salvation!
As true believers (Christians), on that day we were 'born again' 1 Peter 1:23 we received that same Holy Spirit, Jesus received from above at His baptism Matthew 3:16, which enables us to hear God's Word to live in harmony with our Heavenly Father, and do the works God has appointed for us to do Ephesians 2:10 in the Name of His Son, our Lord, Master and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The perfect unity of the Son with His Father is God's plan from creation for us as believers, to live humbly, truthfully, victoriously, in harmony and love with our Heavenly Father and with all mankind, as much as it is humanly possible. Romans 12:18
- "All who have trusted Christ and followed him in baptism are really, if mysteriously, united to him." - 'In Christ' (Philippians 1:1) means that we are united with him in both his death and his resurrected life. Consequently, we share the status that Christ Himself has. Because He was obedient to the point of death and subsequently exalted, we too share in His humiliation and exaltation; and we are set apart to God as His servants, just as Christ Himself is.
Ephesians 2:10
"For we are His (God's) workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
Ephesians 3:11
"according to the eternal purpose which He (God) purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:"
The Apostle Paul reminds the church that they are saints, separated to God, because of their union with Christ.
Ephesians 6:24
Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
"For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you." Matthew 6:33
OBSERVATION
The Christian life is not about: self-sufficiency, human ambitions or temporal self-gratification and worldly victories, but about surrender and humble obedience, about faithfully living out God's purpose for us, about experiencing life more abundantly John 10:10 by following Jesus, as recorded for us, and revealed in the Scriptural Principles of God’s Word.
Godliness is about letting Jesus transform our minds, hearts and lives daily, not in rituals or in man's religious traditions, but for truth in Godly harmony and unity in our relationships. Hebrews 12:11
Godliness begins on a personal level. It’s shaped by our daily choices to obey and follow God in the trials and daily challenges, even in the quiet, everyday moments of our private thought life. When we choose holiness over self-gratification, and live with integrity and truth, we build the character God uses to transform us ("sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:" Jude 1:1 ) to bring renewal, justice, harmony, and victory.
We must see that each thought and word, and each action we take, is part of our lifelong journey. By letting God's Holy Spirit shape our character, we learn to love others (like Jesus did), and we can spark change in our families, communities, and culture.
Let’s step forward in faith becoming vessels of God’s grace and mercy.
Through us, in loyal Godly friendships, revival and unity can begin—first personally, then all around us—in fulfilling God's purposes (Luke 2:14).

“Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39
"But he (Jesus) was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not his mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opens not His mouth.
He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare His generation? for He was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was He stricken.
Isaiah 53:5-8
"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
And you are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also you are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised Him from the dead."
Colossians 2:8-12
